Tylman's History.

Tylman of Leek was founded in 1975 by Charlie Tylman, he started off as a small family business making traditional antique pine furniture from living room to bedroom. Business was good and Charlie started growing the workforce and at its peak he had more than 30 employees making furniture for the UK and America. After a few years Charlie decided to make a move and emigrate to Canada and started a business like the one he started in Leek which is still going now.

When Charlie Tylman went to Canada Ziggy, Josie and Neil Parton took over the business for a few years but back again as a small family run business.

Neil Parton Decided to join his wife in Africa doing missionary work helping people less fortunate than ourselves.

My Father (Ziggy) and Mum ( Josie) took the business and carried on the family name.

Phillip Tylman is Ziggy& Josie's son who has been with the company for over 10 years and before that he has always been in the furniture making trade.

We specialize in Bespoke furniture and kitchens.

Every piece of furniture we make will be made using all the old traditional joints that have been used for over 200 years.

The Carcases are made from a solid oak or solid pine carcase with a hlaf lap joint on every join. The front frame and door's will be mortise and tennoned. The drawers are dovetailed front and back and if in a kitchen they will be housed on a 450mm 30kg Blum soft closer system.

All our painted furniture is hand painted, we use 2 coats of Zinnsser primer and sealer and 2-3 coats of top coat which we use the Farrow & Ball or the Little green paint company. We use the eggshelll finish which is the easiest to keep clean and repair if any damage occurs.
